EVALUATION 2

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary text?

Narrative: How do you establish the narrative in your trailer and what is established in the other two productions? How do they work together to sell your product?

The narrative in our film is about a kidnapping where businessman wants to kidnap and he wants to higher these gang members to go and kidnap them when they are in the car park as callum is walking towards his car he gets jumped on by these two gang members and they tie him up and put him in the boot and drive of with him. They then contact his brother to tell him if you want his brother back you will have to pay 40 thousand pounds to get him back and if he did not provide him with the money by a certain amount a time he will suffer. In our film we have a lot of violence we use guns at the end of the trailer when the businessman shoots callum right at the end we also have a fighting scene in the car park when the gang members capture callum when they are in the car park.

For our film we used two other productions we made a magazine poster and a poster for our film. on our poster we have information about the film to tell you who is the main characters in the film so a picture of them in the middle of the page to make them stand out, we having him holding a gun because our film involves violence so that it tells the audience a bit about what they can expect from the film. We have the characters of the film just under the title in bold white writing with a black background i think that is effective because it stands out to the audience and it very clear and easy to understand and read. we have the film age rating and when it will come out on the poster as the public will know the key dates and what age rating it is. On the magazine poster we have the company at the top of the page from which company is promoting my film in bold grey writing which is effective because it stands out and is very attractive and easy to read. Then we have a similar to the poster where we used race against time in bold writing but than added extra features like you get a free poster of a character if you purchase it. It has a quote from the film to tell you how good it is so that you get like a little review of what it is about and what exactly you can expect.

They work together to sell the product because they tell you information about the film and what exactly it is about and what you should expect as an audience member it kind of gives you an insight on what they are doing to make it and feel more involved in the film and actually feel apart of it. They give you extra feature like a poster or they tell you to go onto their online website and go and see how each character acts and what he does and allows you to be in his shoes in some way. The pictures on my poster sought of gives you an idea of what my film is actually about and what you can expect as callum who is the main character in my film has a gun in his hand so that suggests to the audience that violence is involved in my film.

Brand Identity: How have you established a brand identity? Use snips to show how things like slogans were used in different productions to promote the film and establish brand identity.

I think that our titles are very effective because it kind of tells a story and it tells you what you would actually expect from the film and the titles are very eye catching and effective because they are bold but very simple and they stand out. I think that the titles are very aggressive and bold so they are eye catching as soon as you see them, i also think that it tells you that it is going to be a faster pace tempo film.We used cool text to create our titles as we thought that it will allow us to try many different fonts to fit into our film and find the one that is most suitable for our film. we used different productions to promote our films as we thought as a group we needed different phrases in our film for the audience to remember. I think overall that we made a successful production titles as our titles targeted the action/thriller genre conventions. I think that we have established our brand and that people would want to know me about a characters personality and almost wanting to be them because we have made believable characters in our film.

Codes and Conventions: How has you established genre across the three products? Use some snips from each to show how you have indicated genre across your portfolio productions.

I think that it is very clear that our film is an action thriller film from the props that we use, we use a gun and some of the titles you can't really tell what sort of genre the film is it adds a quite a bit of a twist because it could either be an action/thriller film or a romantic film so it kind of made the audience think of what they were expecting from the film. one way of indicating what the film is about is the location and where you set it if you set it in a busy place like london you kind of expecting it to be a lot of crime and drugs involved in the film. And also the use of costume in our film you can tell there is crime evolved from what luke is wearing in the scene, when he is on the phione to get the job done to kill and kidnap him he was wearing a puffer nike jacket and a mask on to which tells you what type of character he is as he is wearing a stereotypical costume. with the editing we used quite a fast paced music throughout the film when the scene when callum was walking to the car just before he got kidnap and in a romantic film you would expect a slower paced music. In our films we used many different props like a gun to indicate that our film is an action/thriller film, you can also tell that our film is a gang film by the costume luke and leon wearing in the trailer and they both had masks on them in the kidnap scene from that i think the audience gather what the film iks actually about.
